Contributions to IIRF’s General Fund directly support the advancement of our core mission—developing new ways to foster and facilitate defence and security thinking worldwide.

IIRF does not receive core funding from any government or institution; we are an entirely independent body. Yet, independence comes at a cost. We work diligently to raise the resources needed through membership fees, research projects, events, and—most importantly—the generous support of individuals and companies who believe in the value of our work.

Our primary focus lies in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific, extending from Eurasia in the west to Oceania in the east. In all that we do, we are committed to ensuring public benefit, while remaining free from political partisanship. To sustain our independence, we rely on income from memberships, publications, research contracts, events, and donations from a broad range of private and governmental sources.

IIRF is registered as a society in India and enjoys Income Tax Exemption under Section 80(g) and 12A of the Income Tax Act. We are also recognized as a 501(c) exempt organization in the United States.
